Towers rise among emerald peaks,

A narrow path leads into the lake’s heart.

Though no rain falls, the mountains glisten;

Though no clouds drift, the waters darken.

The Broken Bridge, moss-covered, grows slick with age,

The empty courtyard, deep with fallen blossoms.

Still, I recall the moon by the western window

And the bell’s echo in the northern woods.
